Update: Weak Economy Leads To Lower Pathfinder Prices:
Nissan's sales have been week for over a year, along with most of the other carmakers. There's no question that dealers are struggling in this weak economy ... which means there are some extremely good deals to be had right now on a new Pathfinder ... often below invoice prices, sometimes far below.
See the link at the bottom of this article for exactly how to get the lowest price on a new Nissan Pathfinder.
Options:
Most optional features on the Pathfinder are available in packages. For the most part, the SE model packages, such as the Journey Package and Premium Package, offer most of the additional features that come with the LE. Other stand-alone options include a rear-seat entertainment system and a navigation system with digital music storage.
Engines, Powertrains And Gas Mileage:
There are two engines available on the 2009 Pathfinder. Most models come equipped with a very capable 4.0 liter V6 that delivers 266 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque. Available on the LE is a powerful 5.6 liter V8 that produces 310 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.
A properly equipped V6 Pathfinder has a tow capacity of 6,000 pounds. The V8 LE ups that to 7,000 pounds. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard with both engines. The Pathfinder is also available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Hhowever, the SE Off-Road and LE V8 are only available in 4WD.
The acceleration on the Pathfinder is fast, with a 0 to 60 mph time of just 7.4 seconds. The V8 is even quicker and clocks in at 7.0 seconds.
The EPA gas mileage ratings for the rear-wheel-drive V6 are 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. With the 4WD, gas mileage drops to 13 mpg city and 19 highway. The 4WD V8 Pathfinder has a similar rating at 13 city and 18 mpg on the highway.
Safety Features:
Standard safety features on all 2009 Nissan Pathfinders include antilock disc brakes, stability control, side airbags and side curtain airbags.
In government crash tests, the Pathfinder received four (out of five) stars for frontal-impact safety. While side-impact results are not available, the 2008 model was awarded five stars.
