We have to say that for its price range, we really like the SXT. We've been impressed with its handling and response and it also has very good gas mileage ratings, getting 25-29 mpg city and 32-36 mpg on the highway. The 5-speed manual, with overdrive, is particulaty spirited and economical. Also, all SXT's are known for their particularly good sound systems.

Competing against such cars as the Corolla and Civic, it doesn't surprise us that the Neon comes up somewhat short when rated by the "professional reviewers" set. But we find it very telling that people who actually own this car give it more than solid scores. Consumer Reviews over at edmunds.com give it an 8.9 out of 10. Consumers at Cars.com give it a 4 out of 5.

The bottom line is that the SXT offers a much lower price than the competition, impressive maneuverability with a surprisingly peppy engine, good gas mileage and its owners have very positive things to say. Sounds like good reasons to consider the SXT as a used car purchase to us.
