The Sunfire was produced from 1995 until 2005 for people looking for basic transportation at an affordable price. And we're still seeing nice ones at the auctions.
More recent models offer a surprisingly lively engine as well as more upscale options such as OnStar, satellite radio and a power sunroof. And in 2003 and newer models, the Sunfire got an upgraded sport suspension and new front and rear fascias.
In industry reviews, the Pontiac Sunfire received decent marks for overall handling and it's Ecotec engine was also praised for its power and smooth delivery.
Gas mileage ratings are also a plus. EPA mileage estimates are 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway for the automatic, and 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway for the five-speed manual.
