We got our first look (pictured left) at the Chicago Auto Show back in February. And while it sure looked pretty, we all wanted to see it in action.
This M3 was designed as BMW's entry for the 2009 American Le Mans Series (ALMS). It's powered by a 485-horsepower V8 engine (BMWs P65 race engine) to improve on the standard model's 414-hp.
They also race-tuned the chassis as well. It's both wider and lighter (through widespread use of carbon-reinforced plastic) than the production model to further enhance its already impressive driving dynamics.
We're still waiting to hear what, if any, of the racing modifications will make it to a street model.
