I spent much of my auto industry career helping people do something that shouldn't be nearly as difficult as it often is: buy a car at an attractive price without all the games, pressure, and unnecessary expense that can come with dealing with car dealerships.
As an auto broker and consumer advocate, I worked on behalf of car buyers rather than dealerships. I negotiated with both new and used car dealers to secure competitive prices for my clients while insulating them from much of the usual car-buying craziness.
I created Auto Broker Magic originally as an auto-broker website. I used it to display available vehicles and help clients purchase cars they were looking for. Later, I began transforming the site into a consumer resource that explained the same pricing, comparison and negotiating methods I used professionally.
That experiment grew far beyond anything I expected. Over the years, the site helped generate tens of thousands of car-buyer inquiries while showing me just how many consumers wanted straightforward guidance from someone who had worked inside the business.
Although no longer an auto broker, I've continued to use Auto Broker Magic to pass along what I learned.
My goal is simple: teach you how to act as your own auto broker.
That means understanding how dealerships price cars, how much room there may be to negotiate, how to get dealers competing for your business, what your trade-in is really worth, and how to recognize when you've found a genuinely good deal.
You'll also find detailed information about the reliability, common problems, best years and ownership costs of many popular new and used vehicles. The idea isn't simply to help you negotiate a better price. It's to help you choose the right car in the first place.
I don't believe buying a car has to be a battle. But I do believe that the buyer who understands how the business works has a tremendous advantage.
Knowledge is leverage.
I hope the information throughout Auto Broker Magic helps you use that leverage to make a smarter choice, get a better deal, and have a much less stressful car-buying experience.
All the best,
Josh
